I would also not make too many determinations based on what is written in the newspapers.  That may indeed present a minority opinion making noise.  I can say that the atmospheric scientists at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, did not welcome Shyn-Ichi Akasofu&#039;s presentation that the recent warming trend is part of an inter-decadal cycle.  I thought the presentation was rather convincing.  Perhaps I misunderstood, but I thought the resistance meant that most atmospheric scientists are working on the assumption of anthropogenic global warming, if nothing else because that is where the funding comes from.  I can&#039;t say that I have studied the literature myself.  I have taken on other challenges.  But I&#039;ll start asking around IARC when I get a chance.</description>
